Merc Market snags

Good buys with a great turnout. The IG army that sat comfortably at 1500 yesterday now has more units to begin the bloating stage that all of my armies tend to go through.

A revival of sorts

Eh, it's been a really really long time since the last post. The Templars got 2 more predators for a total of 3 and they have 2 full speeder squadrons. One squadron is MM/HF while the other is HB/AC. Addtionally, the EC has died twice since the last post. He hasn't died in almost a decade of irregular battles.

Also, I've begun Imperial Guard again. Not many infantry yet but I do have 2 sentinel squadrons for those critical heavy weapons. Tomorrow I get my last command squad to round out my sniper squad. A leman russ executioner may also be on the bill.

The LR is nearing completion but without the frag assault launchers the tracks just look plain naked. Anyway, here are some pictures of the tank in progress. More pictures later as the tracks and weapons near completion.

Priming failure

I primed the LR as soon as I woke up. The primer was white as per usual but this time instead of the 2x coverage stuff I've been using I used Rustoleum white protective enamel. I've had no problems with the grey variation of this product in the past so I thought I was safe with the white. Dead wrong. On top of the grey primer which was then covered in red before spraying the paint came out in what felt like globs of snow. It was cold despite being at room temperature and the coverage was splotchy even on unprimered doors. Very upset. I hope the black armor color hides the problems. Otherwise at least I got the tank for free.

Black Templar additions

I woke up today and did some serious cleaning in my room. A bunch of crap was thrown out including old models, papers, random weird objects or toys I had, and other irritating crap such as boxes that contained boxes. Anyway, the point is the 40k stuff is also put in boxes and now organized so that I can pull one army out at time more comfortably. Ultimately all of this text is leading to a mostly unrelated topic. I've taken my 3rd BA WIP land raider and given it a set of BT doors. The bugger is going to the templars! I'll prime the tank tomorrow and begin painting the hull after work. Updates this weekend.

Felt like taking some pictures

Well I got home from work and decided to lay out the Eldar to see the army with the new spiders I got. I think this army is actually even closer to being complete than my templars. For the moment I'm trying to decide which army to simply commit fully my time and finish. This doesn't come easy since half my BA are actually done while the templars and eldar are mostly done and entirely acrylic based armies. Anyway, here are some pictures.

As previously posted 7 of the 32 termies were mine. I got a bunch from the market and I bought some of Pat's termies. The dreads are from the 3 loyalist armies I have now. And then of course the Eldar.

So at the Merc Market on saturday I bought a bunch of things. The most important and relavent to this post is the crap ton of terminators I got for $10. I had 7 of the old tiny termies before saturday. Now I have 32. They're all complete save for I'm missing 2 cyclone missiles, a storm shield, storm bolter, and lightning claw. Pretty damn good deal.

The plan as you might have expected is to run a Death Wing army. This is especially obvious since half of these termies are Death Wing adorned. That makes my life easier for the meantime. Additonally, I've yet again found a use for my devestators since the DA are a gunline army. Finally, the 2 dreads I've got that have sat in a box for months will receive plasma cannons and some love so they can SMITE THE ENEMIES OF THE EMPEROR! Silly dresses and emo attitudes aside I've wanted to dabble with DA for a year or so now. I asure you there will be very very few dresses in this army. These are men afterall. Dresses are for girls and I'm not talking about SoB's seeing as how only a woman should wear a dress. Don't let their feminine faces and lean bodies fool you. The SoBs are just girly men that failed Astartes school.

Well I've been deliberating these past few days and decided having a 3rd space marine army is everything short of a retarded move. So, the marines are being folded into the Blood Angels and Templars. The scouts of course go back to the BA where they will not be used just as before. Meanwhile the BT gain two shooty squads, 2 rhinos, and 5 assault marines. Not bad but I could have gone without buying any of the stuff in the first place.

The assault marines were completed today. The remaing tactical marine legs and torsos have also been built. The scouts are trimmed but await heads and arms. I've begun work on the tactical marine sergeant. He will have a powerfist and boltgun. More pictures later this week.

I've begun to build the assault squad from the battleforce. As of the moment I'm not sure which special close combat weapon I will put on the sergeant. I will post more picture updates tomorrow and the next day as I progress. The goal for the moment is to have everything built by thursday so I can base it and start priming by the weekend. A tale of two furiosos part 1

Below is a picture of the first dreadnought and the second dreadnought. I bought a second Furioso kit 2 days ago. The first one is almost done as you can see. The darn angel wing details are giving me trouble with a combination of an unsteady hand, thick paint, and a bad brush. The second dread has been primed but alas I've run out of primer and still need some to finish it. I'm really excited about how the dreads are coming out. The variation of colors in the Blood Angel army has always been one of my favorite things about the army. Until next time.

I've been busy today. Woke up early for no reason and did some yard work. Played a little Battlefield and then headed off to the LGS. I bought another furioso dreadnought so now I've got 2. I fought Kyle's Grey Knights and have a crazy close game. Four dreadnoughts, 3 predators, a vindy, and some Death Company vs 15 TDA and 2 venerable dreads. Long winded break

Well it has been some time since the last update and really not much has happened. I've got a job. I bought a Blood Angel dreadnought kit and built at Death Company Furioso with blood talons. That very same night at the game store the dreadnought took part in two games. The first game was against Kyle's new Grey Knight army and the second was against an Imperial Guard player we've known for a bit. Both games saw the Dread just wreak utterly horrible havoc with the enemy infantry. This guy is just a monster. The librarian force weapon arm is also pretty cool but it has too many little nobs on it to make it rotate how I want it to. Also, with the extra regular Furioso DCCW I can properly arm my 2nd pewter Furioso dreadnought. The third one needs arms. Can you imagine fighting 3 regular furiosos and 2-3 death company furies? That would be horrible. Anywho, that's the news for now. I'll put some pictures of the blood talon furie up tomorrow morning.

Terminators and White Dwarf

So Justin, Pat, and I went to a LGS and snagged about a foot thick stack of White Dwarf magazines. After reading the 2005 issue which talks about TDA armor I've begun painting my terminators again. I got all of the purity seals done painted tonight and plan to finish tabards and wings this week. Peace.

Late update is better than no update I suppose. We've got my constant switching between paint projects in all three topics in the pictures. The Death Company have base rims painted all the wrong color since I wasn't paying attention but fortuntaely all the DC armor is now black! I was able to get the metallics done on 1.5 marines.

Also below is a Pedro Kantor model I'm painting up for Pat. Pedro's coming along really well and I'm a bit jelous I can't field him. However, I may have to buy Helbrecht so I have a son of Dorn to paint. Pedro is nearly complete. I must finish the banner with some touchups and shading on the fist, the base must be painted, seals, cloth, and then the wings must be completed.

And lastly pictured is the Imperial Fist marine all done up and sealed. I'm really happy with him aside from the horrific experience that is applying space marine decals. You will notice that a small chunk of the decal is missing. This is because I cut the decal into quarters and at some point that chunk must have come off onto the knife.

Disregard the tiny hair on Pedros' stormbolter and IF picture 1. Enjoy.

The Imperial Fist was quickly finished up today and I just gave the mini a gloss cote. Next is his decal followed by another layer of gloss cote and finally a dull cote. Gunther will be ready for some xenos killin' action this friday!

In other news Kyle and I visited IO friday and played a couple of games. Our first game was against each other and our second games were against two other fellows we know from the store. I played against Black Templars at 2k points with my Blood Angels while Kyle used his 1500 Thousand Sons list to fight a massive whorde of Imperial Guard. We both lost our games to varying degrees but they were fun. The BT had 3 land raiders so I took all the anti-tank I had with me except the Annihilator. A few foolish moves in my first turn saw one of my assault squads sacrificed to a terminator squad and the attack bike squad popped a raider but died in an ensuing assault with the contents. Fortunately my priest attached to the assault squad had made 9 saves and took down 2 terminators. We traded blows for a few turns and positioned men until the last few turns which were where the real grit was. My 2 tactical squads assaulted one of his crusader squads but unfortunately one squad only got 2 guys into contact so the assault was horribly one sided. My men fell back and were destroyed by further attacks from 2 LRC and a vindy that had zoomed up one flank a few turns back. My sniper las cannon marine, the sole survivor of 1 of the devestator squads, had been taking some serious pot shots at his vehicles the whole game and managed to nail a dreadnought early on. Unfortunately a pair of assault terminators took him down. There wasn't much left on my side. Good game but I've got to get with the times.

Unfortunately I do not know how Kyle's game went in terms of details as we were on separate sides of the store. He says Pask had done a number to his vehicles with the Vanquisher and the 50-man guardsman blobs with commissars were virtually impossible to kill. Well, something along those lines.

Gone but not forgotten

So within just 4 days of being on the market the mustang has been sold. Now to move a ladder so the Xterra can fit in the garage. Feels good man.

No progress as of late in the 40k department. The DW marine is as he was last posted and Kyle and I have had 1 game at IO. Pat's in Tucemcary at an iron pour while the rest of us sit here going about our average lives.

Dawn of War II Retribution has been a great experience so far though I'm a bit miffed the missions are the same for every race. The Chaos heroes were the most fun for a few reason. Passive doombolt, missile launcher that fires every second, and a never ending swarm of plague zombies! It sure made the space hulk missions easy when the 'nid forces started fighting their zombie bretheren. The Blood Ravens have been cool as well though the techmarine is still leaving something to be desired. Cyrus is always cloaked, Tarkus is cloaked and carries around a plasma cannon that doesn't have take down time, and Diomedes is for all intents and purposes invincible.

The space marine is coming along well. After watching a guy paint a templar on youtube I've decided to actually try thinner paints and a dozen coats to get the yellow right. I'm liking the base's contrast with the mini especially with the piece of shale on the base. Really it's just the cork of course. Now to figure a color to paint the circumference of the base to tie the project together. More later.

Deathwatch marine part 2

The marine has been based and primed today. The basing was simple once decided on. I took some cork board and shaved it in half so it was really thin. I then took a guardsman's helmet and cut it at an angle so it appeared to be sunken into the ground. Finally, the standard sand/gravel basing material was glued to the base. On this marine I tried something new as far as mounting the marine to the base. Usually I just glue his feet directly to the plastic of the base. This time, however, I completed the base and then glued the marine to the material on the base. As you may suspect this isn't the strongest bond so I pinned both legs to the base. Hopefully we can hang at Kyle's tonight and get some painting done.

So we are venturing into the realm Deathwatch. I've picked an Imperial Fist tactical marine and have finally finished writing up his business. Pat has a Space Wolf techmarine, Kyle a Storm Wardens libby, and Justin a Blood Angel devestator that's actually an assault marine in gunnery sergeant harker's body. My character is akin to an immovable object obsessed with self flagellation for his errors and the precise application of the Emperor's justice. Pat's guy is a charismatic, supersitious, bearded fellow who happens to know something about machines and never falls back. Kyle's guy is some kind of William Wallace figure. Justin's guy literally hates anything blue due to being mind raped by Ultramarines or something. Additionally he has to kill something before the mission ends. This should be interesting.

I plan to make this miniature for my marine today or tomorrow so I will get pictures up soon.

Another battle!

Kyle and I hand another game today at IO. It was a 1250 point game on a desert table. I deployed on one side of the table, Kyle doing the same, and we went at it. My forces ran forward and systematically assaulted and destroyed squads. His commander held up a crusader squad for a good 2-3 turns and literally killed half the squad - without warptime. My terminators which have up to this point not seen close combat finally got into close combat with a rhino and OBLITERATED IT!!! I was happy but it was a 215 point investment to destroy a 35 point rhino. Anywho, the game ended in a bloody series of assaults on objectives. Kyle had his last squad fall back to one objective while I moved in to take the objective I had just cleared. His predator contested so we tied 1v1. Good game.

Pat bought a box of Wolf Guard Terminators. Sweet.

I did get 3 of the 4 masters of the fleet from Kyle's new marine acquisition and a close combat scout. Also good.

That's about it. I forgot to take a picture of the last close combat in the game which was reminiscent of the previous game. His sorcerer was completely surrounded by an ocean of black armor once again. Glorious.

The lictor camouflage as mentioned previously was stipled over dark angels green. The colors sunburst yellow followed by snot green and then followed by a stipling of DA green to tidy up.

The LRC tracks were painted black, washed vermin brown, stipled boltgun, and then stipled blazing orange. The picture doesn't do a good job of showing the idea.

The last two tanks were simply drybrushed. The King Tiger had the extra step of using a yellow ink to make yellow streaks on the white. The KT was then washed and drybrushed again to blend it.

Here are the Reaver pictures. Unfortunately the glare is awful. I'm not happy about it and I do apologize. The pictures are relatively small because they were taken with my phone as opposed to my camera. In addition, I've included a picture from the last game with Kyle against his Thousand Sons. You will notice that in the picture the lone TS in the squad is surrounded by an ocean of Black Templars. This happened to another squad as well. Heh.

These two Black Templar tanks are wearing my patience thin. I'd like to get them finished as quickly as I can so I can work on the neophytes and initiates. They need love too after all. The LRC is now 100% glued together. The sponson weapons and plates have been left removable in the exteremely off chance the templars are allowed to field the redeemer. The predator's sponsons are now black and the heavy bolters are nearly complete. The lascannons will need to be painted chaos black and a quick wash will finish them up as well.

The speeder has taken a back seat to the two tanks but I've put some work into it today and yesterday. The grav plates were finished up and the engines have their ice blue glow. Meanwhile, the dreadnoughts have been absolutely abandoned at the moment. Though one has all of the metallics complete I've got next to no desire to paint them right now. What can I say, I love my tanks. :D

Two tanks near completion

With yet more work on the LRC and Predator today both vehicles are that much closer to completion. In fact, the last details are really the only things remaining. Touching up the sponsons on the LRC, painting the sponsons on the Predator, washing the Predator's hull, and finishing the techmarine on the LRC. I'm very excited as each step makes these two tanks look much more awesome and at times ominously intimidating. So without further ado here are some overly bright pictures of these two vehicles.

I can't say the sponsons were fun to paint but they were significantly easier to build over the previous metal hurrican bolters. That said they still jut out far enough to make the tank as wide as it is long which looks absurd.

I also was fortunate to copy the audio book Waiting Death that Kyle owns so I can listen to that on my stereo. It should be good.

Today Kyle and I went to another LGS a long way away and got to see their pair of Reaver titans. The pictures are on my phone at the moment and will be posted in the next update later-ish.

First contact

Today Kyle bought an army of Thousand Sons. After said purchase we had a 1250 point game. The AP3 bolter fire did a number on the neophytes on one side of the battlefield while the other squad went from unit to unit wiping the floor with soul juice. The terminators with EC were on one flank and did absolutely nothing this game though I think they may have been more of a psychological influence in deployment than anything else. The land speeder lived!

While we were at the LGS one of the guys that works there gave me a box of old school plastic terminators. They were mostly unbuilt and only the sergeant was painted. This is pretty awesome as that makes for 2 things I've gotten for free just by being in the right place at the right time. The first being Lemartes.

So, with a new termy squad looking for a home among one of my chapters and the Templars having waged their first battle against the manipulative witches of the cult of Tzeenth, the crusade construction continues. Alliteration aside the LRC is now glued together and nearing completion. The hurricane bolters are the only real obstacle at the moment simply because it's taking more than one coat of paint over a white basecoat to get the bolters red.

Unfortunately as would be expected I won't be finishing the interior of the LRC today. It's okay, I lie to myself everyday. I'm also hanging with some friends so work will be slow. So as promised the terminator pictures. They're still in the touchup stage. Eyes, shields, names, cables, banners, and a few other spots need some touching up or detailing in general.

In addition, Kyle bought the audio book with Straken in it yesterday. We were listening to it on the way back from the game store and aside from the liberal use of the word "damn" it was pretty awesome. The sounds and narrative were great.

Terminator news

So sitting here at my friend's girlfriend's house painting my BT terminators. They're almost completed. The bases are still quite bland so I'm going to have to find a way to liven them up. The poses of the heads are not the greatest and I'm kind of miffed but in the great sea of Black Templars they will be enveloped and ignored anyway. I'll post pictures tomorrow of their progress. It's sad that these BT terminators which I've had for about a month now are nearly complete meanwhile it's taken me over 3 years to get my BA assault terminators to the same level of completion. *le cry*

Templar update.

I put a few minutes into the Templars today. Work on the hobby has been quite slow as of late but it's not really a concern. Anywho, I got started on the Predator hull today. Just your basic black coat. Having a 1 inch wide brush helps immensely. As a byproduct of the new FAQ for the Templars I think I may have to go terminator heavy in a third army. Damit sometimes I wonder why I don't play Loganwing or Deathwing.

I was looking at cars again tonight at various dealerships when I came across this Roadrunner. Pretty cool but one hell of a boat. In addition, I took a seat in the newer Challanger at a Dodge dealership and, surprise surprise, it felt essentially the same as my car. The dashboard has that huge length to it like the Charger which I do not like. The car looks good but man it sure looks like a boat with its' full square shape.

More neophytes join the fray

Fourteen neophytes have recieved their black carapace armor today. I also set out the entire force just for fun. Of course the obligatory picture. The new FAQs released by GW for the loyalist armies is great news. Unfortunately while our wargear saw an equivalency relative to codex marines our power armored individuals continue to take to the field without grenades as a base wargear. This is frustrating and seems like a stupid thing to not give us. The costs of basic units relative to other codices is not equalized. Both the Dark Angels and the Black Templars suffer this fate. As a friend told me today hopefully this isn't to say we (BT/DA) won't get new codices in the future. Hopefully our wargear and costs will be rectified in another FAQ in the near future.

In addition, Kyle has a new car. He is now the owner of a Mazda Miata.

Real world news.

So the car search continues. Yes, this thing I'm only just now mentioning as though I've posted about it before. I've driven a 2009 Xterra SE so far and can't get the vehicle out of my head. In the long run assuming it's still available I think it may be the one. On the other hand my dad wants me to drive a 2008 Mustang GT to get a feel for the difference in power and handling over the 2005 V6 Mustang I'm currently driving.

School went well this past semseter. I pulled through after an initial test failure in calc. The first test grade was a D but I wasn't about to let that crap hang me up. Now I'm just waiting to get my Associates in the mail or however I'm supposed to recieve it. In the fall it's off to a university.

This week begins the application for employment as I take this semester off to work. I'm looking forward to having some cash to buy the new Blood Angels Furioso kit. It should be cool especially with blood talons.

EEK! Bugs!

I've been working on a Lictor for a friend's Tyranid army. At first he was this hideous brown with gray skin. The idea was to mimic rattlesnake patterns. This was quickly thrown out. Just today the carapace was painted dark angels green and stippled with sunburst yellow and snot green. The "skin" or whatever was a tamiya grey, stippled with scorched brown, dark flesh, and then washed with devlan mud. Talons are black.

The Trygon was primed white and so far just has the black carapce. The fleet my friend wanted was Leviathan but, with the streaking being a pain with the wrong brushes and my limited purple collection comprising of a single color, this became less likely to happen. After he read the Tau combat with Gorgon in the new 'nid codex when it came out he said it would would be a cool fleet to play. It's a jungley hive fleet so there it is. The Lictor's fate is sealed and almost done. The Trygon is next.

Here is the Land Speeder so far. Mostly complete save for the grav plates, washing, and crew. I can't say the heavy flamer looks good being so bulky and hanging so low. Yes, the pilot is not glued in at an angle. Both crewmen are removable at the moment for ease of painting.

The Black Templars are making steady progress to being complete. Pictured here we have the Predator which was sprayed a few days ago and as fortune would have it the magnets are still holding firm. There are two dreadnoughts. The gold trimmed dreadnought is venerable and may just be getting a TLLC here in the future. The Chaplain has progressed a bit further since last update but I'm concerned his crozius is too much of a gold eye sore. So, I'm going to put some thought into what I could do to add some more color to it and probably just end up washing it in the end with no changes.

Death Squads: Our group has mentioned Death Squads a few more times and how fortunate for me that I happen to have 15 Kroot which is the maximum squad size for Kroot in DS. A shaper has also joined their ranks which is welcoming as far as modelling goes. Kauyon sounded the most interesting to me so the Kroot will eventually be some strange combination of red, brown, and yellow.

Building: Yesterday I built a Dark Eldar Raider for a friend of mine while watching another episode of Top Gear. Good entertainment but I would like to avoid building any more raiders if at all possible.

Lastly, I was given a Furioso dreadnought by a friend yesterday. With the meltagun missing and a fist missing as well it will be an interesting fix. Blood talons may be in order as I'd love to try a Death Company Furioso.

The Predator is built but it requires a minor turret repair in the front. Magnetizing the guns was not a pleasureable experience but atleast it's done. The Chaplain has acquired his black armor and I've begun to paint the basic colors for many other details.

So it's been about 4,000 years since the last post and assuming there were any people actually curious about this site I'm sure you're gone now. That said, there is news.

I've rekindled my Black Templars and begun the slow build to combat readiness. With somewhere around 30 Initiates, 20 Neophytes, 2 HQs, and a handful of Sword Bretheren I continued to add on. A Predator was bought today while a squad of Assault Terminators arrived yesterday.

I had a game today with Kyle's Catachan gunline. It was a horrendous slaughter. My forces had over 50% casualties on the run in while my anti-tank platforms were dumper fucked by a fast moving melta blast vehicle (Devil Dog) and a trio of outflanking sentinels with las cannons. God damn.

I am determined to stand up with sword in hand and wipe the blood from my face before trudging back into the grind. I will figure a way to defeat these wretched humans and the new foe Dark Elv...I mean Eldar. Fuck Imperial Armor's portrayal of Space Marine tank use. I want victory.

I will post pictures of my Black Templars tomorrow, of this I assure you.

Fourth Tactical Squad

I bought a tactical squad from Kyle a while ago and only now am I building them. I finally get to have a tactical squad with a mix of left over Blood Angel bits. The squad will have a powerfist on the sergeant but I'm not sure on the the special and heavy weapons. I'm thinking of a plasma cannon and plasma gun for the moment. The 5th squad if I get one will have a Las Cannon.

August 31, 2010. I was born 21 years ago today. I was hoping to update my license today at the DMV but I had a prior time dependent obligation to fulfill. That obligation happened to be the ordering of more space marines! Yes, Kyle, Pat, and I ordered more stuff. I got 5 space marine scout bikes. Pat got a space marine battleforce and Kyle got a couple of Ork nob boxes and I think a box of boar boys from the fantasy range. Good stuff.

The car got a new pair of front tires today which is great. Now I just need to clean the car. Unfortunately the front tires need to be realigned due to asymmetric wear on the treads. The rear tires will also have to be replaced in the next week because of structural damage. The core of the tire is actually exposed on one side from when I jumped a curb and flipped a nice chunk out of the tire wall.

I came home today and had dinner with my parents. After dinner I opened my presents and discovered both a new Dell Studio laptop and a carrying case of correct size. I've been messing around with the system for the last hour. It's pretty nice. The display is sized well at about 15.6 inches, the machine is light weight (probably weighing less than my six pound dog), and I've got plenty of hard drive space, RAM, and processing power. I couldn't ask for more unless I opted for a gaming system.

So, that's the news as of late. Also, I'm done with this stupid pylon crap in my posts. I started it after SC2 came out and since then it's just become annoying. Also, I'm glad to see that Operation Iraqi Freedom is complete. I can only hope that our involvement in Afghanistan doesn't devolve into something mirroring the Russian's involvement in the 70's.

Paint

The LRC is almost entirely black now. All that remains are weapon plates and the engine armor. The dreadnougts are also black. I'll probably start on the infantry armor tonight seeing as how it should go relatively quickly.

This spraypaint I used was more like a snowstorm in a can. It sprays with such heavy coverage that it coated my car and entire 3 car garage in a powdery layer or paint. I'm sure my lungs were coated too. Feels bad man. Its a nice finish though.

I finally got Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries working on my system again. It's great being back in the cockpit of my favorite mechs. Unfortunately the classic gauss/ppc alpha mechs are still abundant and the player base is low during mid day. I suppose it makes sense with people at work an all.

After buying 10 tactical marines with bolt pistol and chainswords the other day I decided to once again put a little more time into my Templars. The tacticals were listed as assault marines by the guy I bought them from but they were not so they had little place in my Blood Angels. Therefore, they have been armed with bolters and other weapons to fill in my crusader squads giving me three 15 man squads. One squad will be bumped down to 14 so I can attach an Emperor's Champion and throw the squad into a Land Raider Crusader. I just happened to buy the new plastic crusader/redeemer kit today. I've got to say that I really love the new hurricane bolters. The old ones were so poorly designed and quite finicky. My two blood angel dreadnoughts that I stripped a few weeks ago are also being eyeballed for service in the templars once again. Perhaps this time they will remain there.

I played a game last night against Kyle's new Grey Knights. My forces of Chaos gave him a good show and the game was very tense. I was happy to use my defiler. The defiler had up until this point been broken down so the legs could be reposed but it too was fixed up and the torso near completion. The bikes and obliterators really kept the pressure on while the defiler took the stage for attention. I enjoyed the game.

No more progress on starcraft 2 yet since I haven't gotten a chance to find an open day for Justin.

I suppose I shoud post some pictures up in this blog before it turns into an endless wall of text.

I've spent the last week in Silverton, Colorado. Compact little town tucked away in the moutains with unpredictable weather, great food, and a nice view.

Back to business though. I played a 650 points game last night with Pat against his Wolves. It was a brutal game. I lost all 21 marines and a speeder to his 14 blood claws. Not a good ratio. I think the 190 point speeder squadron was a bit rich for the point level and I really should be playing to the army's strengths. I might pick up a jump chaplain and give a librarian a jump pack. I'm not sure when the next game is but I plan to be better prepared for it.

An HQ is born

Well, my librarian has been completed. All he needs now is a dull coat (sp?) and that's it. I'm waiting to finish updating my captain and finishing an attack bike before sealing all of them at once. Plus, my baal predator still needs one more coat. Excellent.

My first assault squad have had their bases painted which is a good start. The next thing to do is to touch up the red armor and then ink the buggars.

Still no progress on the 500 point list. Warhammer40k hasn't been my focus this last week and a half. I've been playing SC1 and SC2 when my buddy brings his PC over. I have been working on my Librarian though. His base needs to be based, eagle to be highlighted in bone, and his face finished. Other than that and a few touch ups or color updates to books he will be done.

I'm excited.

My dog is going to 'doggy training' to learn how to be a dog or something along those lines. I'm just happy not to be woken up by his hours of barking. In addition I've nearly finished watching the Invader Zim series. Bizarre as always.

Brainstorming

I've been putting some thought into the 500 point list and for fun I had to figure a way to put a Land Raider into a list. Well, here is that list.

500 points even. Libby and DC ride in the LRR and ds on the beacon. Seems retarded but it could be funny. Since I don't have a LRR yet I won't be using this list.

In all seriousness the Librarian is a sure thing. Few powers are great against Daemons since they're all eternal warrior or otherwise immune to psychology. Scouts may be out since I haven't used them to great effect up to this point. I'm thinking of including a 5-man RAS with power weapon and infernus pistol. Attack Bikes could be quite handy but I might decide on something with a bit bigger punch.

I just had this idea.

The DCF at str 6, 7 on the charge, will be immune to Daemonettes and with the blood talons rule it will have a good chance of continously applying wounds. With any luck I could rack up the wounds and kill 50% of a squad or more per turn. They're immune to str3 rending to boot. The dreads could then combine a charge into the Great Unclean One and destroy him with one phase. Back to brainstorming.

Kyle and I have agreed to build and paint lists in increments starting at 500 points. I'm eager to complete my Blood Angels so I'll work with them. I'm not sure which approach I'd like to take with my troops. Jump troops, tacticals, scouts, or death company.

Market Day

Today was Merc Market day at Empire Games. There was a great variety in the army turnout. I had brought some pewter minis to get rid of initially but none of them sold. The plastic models I brought sold though which granted me $61 of store credit. The Bane Blade is gone, 18 marines are sold, and 5 Eldar Banshees are in new hands. With my credit I finished off my Blood Angels with a land speeder and attack bike.

So far the speeder kit is nicer to work with but the assault cannon isn't short and bulky enough for my Imperial taste. The attack bike is just like any other I've built so I'm not excited about building it. In fact I'm so tired right now that I don't care about either. I stabbed myself with my pin vice while fixing a speeder stand and my blade continues to feel more and more dull.

The other rematch

I took my Eldar this time. I ran infantry heavy and Kyle dropped his monstrous creatures for heralds and Horrors. Suffice to say the mission was intense. We rolled in the battle missions book at got the Chaos Black Crusade mission. Every non vehicle unit respawns upon death and comes back in through reserves. At first it seemed Kyle would win; however, after a few turns and my units returning I managed to just barely skimp by with a single extra kill point than he had. Very very close game and it was quite a long one. Incredibly bloody.

The Rematch

Alright, this is 1 post counted against the 8 support limits courtesy of the pylon. Anywho, I tweaked my list a bit. I dropped the Chimera and 1 Guardsmen squad for 3 autocannon armed Sentinels.

We rolled an Eldar mission with me playing the role of the Eldar. The table was split into halves with my entire army deploying except for the Leman Russ which was in reserve. His deepstrikes were better but my Master of The Fleet continued to sew havoc. It was very nice. His squads came down in pairs and were butchered each turn. The Keeper of Secrets landed on my left flank behind some cover while some Daemonettes landed towards the center objective. My autocannons and heavy bolters destroyed the KoS and the guardsmen squads pummeled the Daemonettes down to just a few survivors. On turn 3 the lone two survivors of a Daemonette squad assaulted my 10-man Guardsmen squad on my right flank. No rends, one wound, saved it. Guardsmen strike back and kill one. Combat resolution kills the last one and my men consolidate ahead cautiously keeping a small hill between them and the viable deepstrike zone.

My gunline maintains position with my commander hopping up and down on a wrecked Aquila Lander while Kyle's units continue to come in in pairs. By turn 4 all he had left were the Seekers which landed on my left flank near the Sentinels who were in a ruin. The Sentinels moved forward putting them in position to charge and tie the unit up if need be since they're fast as hell. The heavy bolter teams on the left side did their job and murdered the squad. The last few survivors were wiped up by the Punisher. Game over on turn 5 with 0 Guard casualties and 2 of 3 objectives claimed for the Imperium.

Kyle wants another rematch but this time I'm looking to use my Eldar. I think this gunline 'dakka dakka' playstyle is going to my head very quickly. I look at my Blood Angels and can't see the gunline working since the Guard do it at a fraction of the cost and much more effectively. I'm still unsure if I will buy into Guard again.

In unrelated news:

The 08th MS came today. I watched the first 3 episodes. Needless to say I wish I had a nice foot tall model of a RX-79. I find it kind of wierd that the girl in the waterfall in the third episode was just a girl and this adult Shiro just watches her swimming like some kind of pedophile. Granted I don't know how old she is. The zero-G moving in the first episode got to me as well since the two downed pilots were pushing off of things and instantly stopping in space without any kind of propulsion device. The Zeon pilot's arm was also cut open and caused her pain which implies a flesh wound of sorts. If that is the case then I don't understand why she didn't freeze with her suit being breached. Silly Japanime. Good stuff though I still can't grasp why the Federation has Gundams and Zeon always has these inferior run of the mill machines. If the regular Federation suits are equivalent to Zeon's suits then that's fine I suppose. Last nag, why the hell would you open your cockpit in a combat zone because somebody is clamoring on your machine? Take your giant robot's fist and smear your torso in their blood or pickup the person and throw them somewhere into the treeline. Enough rambling...

Today will be the day of rematch between myself and Kyle. I will once again be using his brother's Imperial Guard to fight his Daemons. After that I'd like to finish my Predator Annihilator and if possible a Rhino though judging by how long it took to finish my Baal yesterday two tanks in one day may be pushing it.

In an unrelated note I have to ask why people live in this state during these hot months. For God's sake it's 9:30 and already uncomfortably hot.

Also, I finally got the first of four CD's of Gundam: The 08th MS Team from Netflix. Should be good.

Well, I've started my own blog as a branchoff from Cave Creek Gaming since I can't remember my other login. Anywho I'll just pickup where ever it is I left off last.

The Blood Angels are still my main focus and there has been progress. To date two Tactical Squads, 3 Rhinos, 2 Land Raiders, 2 Predators, 2 Dreadnoughts, and 2 Land Speeders have all been completed. Unfortunately that still leaves a lot of marines and armor.

Corbulo remains unfinished and he will probably remain that way for a while since I don't use Sanguinary Priests that often.

Since the release of our real codex I've bought 10 Death Company, a box of Sanguinary Guard, and a Baal Predator (finished as mentioned above). I can't say I expect to get much use out of the Sanguinary Guard since my primary opponent is Kyle and his army has no armor saves.

I'm not sure what to do about my Eldar and Chaos Marines so for now they collect dust.
